Need a Bed Bug Exterminator?
Bed bugs are small, parasitic insects that feed on human blood, usually at night. They are reddish-brown with long, oval-shaped bodies resembling an apple seed.
- Bed bugs are notorious hitchhikers. They can hitch a ride on luggage, clothing and personal items, and can quickly spread from infested locations.
- Bed bugs like to cluster together in bed frames and mattresses so they do not have to go far to feed, but they can also hide in electrical sockets, between couch cushions and behind wallpaper.
- Bed bugs reproduce and spread rapidly. They can also live for an extended period without food, making them one of the most challenging pests to treat.
Signs of a Bed Bug Problem
Bed bugs hide during the day, so an infestation can grow well before it becomes obvious. These are the things to look for.
Bite Marks
Small, red, itchy welts on your skin, often in a line or cluster. Not everyone reacts to bed bug bites, so no reaction does not mean no bed bugs.
Blood Stains
Small rust-coloured or red spots on your sheets, pillowcases or mattress, usually where you sleep.
Fecal Spots
Dark, rusty specks of bed bug excrement on mattress seams, bedding and other hiding places. They often look like marks from a felt-tip pen.
Eggs & Shed Skins
Tiny, white, oval-shaped eggs about a millimetre long, plus the pale shed skins nymphs leave behind as they grow.
Live Bugs
Adults are reddish-brown and about the size of an apple seed. Look in mattress seams, box springs, bed frame joints, cracks and crevices.
Spotted any of these? A professional inspection confirms whether bed bugs are active and determines the right next step. Request an inspection or call 205-344-9311.
Treatment Options
There is no single right answer for every bed bug job. After the inspection we will recommend the option that fits the severity of the problem, your home and your budget — and sometimes that is a combination of both.
For a chemical treatment we apply targeted treatments around the affected areas and do a crack and crevice treatment everywhere bed bugs can hide — mattress seams, bed frames, baseboards, furniture joints and the gaps around them.
- More cost effective than heat treatment
- Can sometimes take a few follow-ups to fully eradicate the problem
- Some customer preparation required before the visit
Heat treatments will typically take care of the issue in just one treatment. We raise the temperature in the affected areas to a level bed bugs cannot survive, which eliminates them at every stage of life — including the eggs that chemical treatments can miss.
- Kills adults, nymphs and eggs in a single treatment
- Less time and less customer preparation
- Combined with liquid treatments to stop migration to other areas and leave a residual barrier after the heat dissipates
How Our Process Works
- A thorough inspection. We start by determining the severity of the bed bug problem and recommending the treatment options best suited for your home and budget.
- A preparation sheet. Before service, we will provide a preparation sheet with simple recommendations that can help make your treatment more effective.
- Treatment. Depending on your situation, treatment may include a chemical service, heat treatment, or a combination of both.
- Additional products where they help. We may also recommend additional products, such as mattress and box spring encasements or pheromone monitoring traps, to support the treatment and help monitor activity.
Our goal is to provide a treatment plan that addresses the current infestation while helping reduce the chances of continued activity.
At Bama Exterminating, we extensively train each and every one of our bed bug exterminators so that you receive the best service possible.
